Telecom industry is at the crossroads. Declining ARPU, increasing user churn, service innovation from application providers have left the telcos reeling. The promise of increased speeds and bandwidth that characterised the movement from GSM to WCDMA to HSPA to LTE is no more attractive enough for users who, strangely, are subject to extreme congestion in some markets despite the upgrades while bandwidth remains under-utilised in others.
